“The SIMA Board of Directors and Environmental Fund are extremely proud to honor Shane, Jean-Michel Cousteau and Sean Collins at the 23rd annual Waterman’s Ball,” said Paul Naude, Chairman of the Waterman’s Weekend Event Committee and President of the SIMA Environmental Fund Board of Directors. “Each honoree’s achievements in and out of the water, dedication to protecting our ocean, and commitment to the sport of surfing is an inspiration to us all. We look forward to this year’s Waterman’s Weekend as we will raise funds and support for the 20 deserving ocean-related organizations, as well as celebrate the impressive accomplishments of our three honorees.”

Free diving on Big-island.

A short first video about free diving.

Last November, during the national competition on the island of Hawai’i, Kyle Gion set the record for the youngest free-diver to go 55 meters deep (at 16 years of age). He can also hold his breath in static for 6 minutes and 10 seconds. A result of dedicated training and expert coaching from Graig A. Gentry, these extraordinary feats are only the beginning for Kyle in the world of free diving.
